Roger Espinoza left Ohio State for Major League Soccer and Sporting Kansas City in 2008.
He immediately became a regular with SKC, appearing in at least 20 matches in four of the next five seasons.
Beginning in 2010, Roger started every single match in MLS he appeared in. In 2012, he started 26 matches and played 2275 minutes and tallied 2 assists.
His strong play helped guide Sporting Kansas City to the 2012 US Open Cup title, and also earned himself a move to Wigan Athletic in the Premier League.
Espinoza went on to appear in 59 matches for the Latics, scoring 3 goals in his time there and playing the full match in the club’s shock 1-0 upset of Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup Final.
Espinoza’s shirt has some light signs of wear with a few pulled and loose threads.
These shirts featured no sponsorship and had the MLS and United States sleeve patches. They had an embossed “state line” design on the left hand side that ran behind the club crest.
Roger signed this shirt on the back just above the numbers. There is also a stray marker mark on the right sleeve.
