Tommy Reasoner was selected in the sixth round, 56th overall by the Kansas City Wiz in the 1996 Major League Soccer Inaugural Player Draft.
The Michigan native had previously played for the Tampa Bay Rowdies and San Diego Sockers, among other clubs.
Reasoner appeared in just 13 matches for the Wiz, though he did start in the club’s inaugural match on April 13th, 1996 in a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids.
Tommy’s play time begin to decline as the summer went on and he made his last appearance for KC on September 1st, 1996 against the MetroStars in a 2-2 draw that Kansas City won in a shootout.
The inaugural season saw the Kansas City Wiz wearing mesh jerseys with the iconic rainbow arcing across the front of the shirt.
These jerseys had twill letters and numbers sewn directly onto the shirt and most examples I’ve seen have the numbers a shade darker than the lettering on the names.
Reasoner’s jersey features the unique KANSAS CITY patch next to the crest which appears to have been added at some point after the first few matches in the inaugural season.
The shirts with the KANSAS CITY patch also feature AT&T sponsorship patches on the left sleeve and on the back of the jersey below the number.
Tommy Reasoner’s shirt has seen some use in its time with wash wear in the lettering and numbers, loose thread in the patches, letters, and numbers, and various other signs of wear and age.
