Kevin Ellis is a Kansas City native who was signed as the second homegrown player in SKC history.
The defender made 68 regular season appearances and 3 playoff appearances in MLS for Sporting Kansas City across 7 seasons.
Ellis scored 6 goals (1 in the playoffs) and 5 assists in his 7 seasons with the club.
In 2015, he made 27 appearances and 26 starts in MLS play and another start in the playoffs.
It was the best season of Ellis’ career, and he scored 4 goals and 1 assist in the regular season and added another goal in the playoffs. He was also in the lineup for the club’s victory over Philadelphia Union to claim the 2015 US Open Cup title.
The KC native also played for the Kansas City Comets after leaving MLS, scoring 40 goals and 17 assists in just 41 matches.
Ellis’ primary jersey was washed and does not show much wear or use and it is unsigned.
These “graphing paper” shirts were a bit polaring among fans due to the odd nature of the design. From my point of view, it was a middling effort by the club and certainly better than the 2019-2020 “tire tread” shirts.
