While he was never flashy, Kerry Zavagnin is a legend in Kansas City thanks to what is now two solid decades of service.
First he patrolled the midfield for Wizards in the early to mid 2000’s before joining former teammate Peter Vermes’ coaching staff in Kansas City in 2009 after retirement.
Zavagnin has been by Vermes’ side ever since.
Known as a hardworking defensive midfielder, Kerry scored just 5 goals across seven seasons in Kansas City while amassing 237 total appearances in MLS for the club.
Zavagnin made 28 appearances in the 2005 season as the Wiz rebounded from a disappointing MLS Cup loss to DC United in the 2004 season. He didn’t score any goals, but did contribute 4 assists.
He was part of the MLS Best XI in the 2004 season.
His 2005 primary kit features Major League Soccer’s 10th Anniversary patch, as well as US Soccer Foundation sponsorship patches on the sleeve and back of the jersey.
The shirt does show some signs of light wear but nothing particularly stands out. Zavagnin has signed it on the back to the right of the number.
2005 was a down year for the Wizards where they finished just 11-9-12.
Zavagnin went on to play three more seasons in KC before retiring after the 2008 season.
