Kevin Hartman played in Kansas City from 2007 to 2009 and continued the clubs lineage of top notch goalkeepers in net.
Hartman was a standout with the LA Galaxy where he won two MLS Cups, one CONCACAF Champions Cup, two US Open Cups, and two Supporters' Shields. He was also named the 1999 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
"El Gato" didn't win any silverware in Kansas City, but he did set the MLS all-time saves record in 2009 - ironically passing Tony Meola - and holds that record to this day.
He was traded to FC Dallas after the 2009 season when the sides couldn't reach an agreement on a contract extension.
Kevin Hartman's gray and navy goalkeeper kit bears a passing resemblance to the "state line" kit that Sporting Kansas City wore en route to the 2013 MLS Cup title. It is interesting to see his 2008 and 2009 kits delving a bit into the colors that would become the norm when the club rebranded.
The shirt doesn't show a ton of wear, however the right elbow pad does have some staining and dirt residue visible.
It is signed by Hartman on the back beside the number and was acquired via @classicfootballshirts. The jersey came with an LOA stating it was from the collection of former Chicago Fire and current Orlando City equipment manager Charles Raycroft.
I've been unable to find photos of Hartman in this kit thus far. It looks like he wore somewhere in the neighborhood of four or five different styles in the 2008 season.
It's a neat piece to add, however, particularly with the interesting color choices echoing back in future kit renditions.
