Benny Feilhaber returned to Sporting Kansas City midway through the 2019 season after a season and some change with LAFC and the Colorado Rapids.
The future Sporting Legend wasn't quite the productive force he'd been in the mid 2010's, but he did manage two goals and two assists in 17 appearances for SKC. He also played in 9 matches for Colorado prior to rejoining Sporting, where he also tallied two goals and two assists.
Feilhaber went on to retire after the 2019 season and is currently the head coach of SKC II.
This black secondary shirt was worn by Feilhaber in the 2019 season. It is presumed to have been worn against the Houston Dynamo on August 31st, 2019.
It has light signs of wear and features the MLS Kick Childhood Cancer patch on the right breast.
Benny signed the jersey on the back with his new squad number, 30. Feilhaber had previously worn the number 10 through the duration of his time in Kansas City.
These black secondary kits were introduced prior to the 2018 season and meant to be the third iteration of the club’s argyle branding, albeit with the argyle look being a bit understated.
They featured the argyle design on the below the back collar and on the front left hem. Sporting Kansas City paired the black jerseys with the same metallic silver lettering that was found on the 2015/2016 white argyle third kits.
The badges and MLS patches on these kits were also done in metallic silver and black.
While not a homerun, these secondary shirts were an interesting departure for the club and are pretty inoffensive from my perspective. For my money they are a much better use of the mono-color design in comparison to the 2022/2023 State Line 4.0 navy blue/indigo secondary kits.
