Tim Melia’s rise at Sporting Kansas City was an incredible story in Major League Soccer during the mid 2010’s.
The former pool goalkeeper turned MLS Comeback Player of the Year (2015) turned MLS Goalkeeper on the Year (2017) went on an incredible run to close out the decade and cement his place in SKC club lore.
Melia backstopped Kansas City to two US Open Cup titles (2015 & 2017) while blowing past the records of club legends like Tony Meola and Jimmy Nielsen who had come before him.
Timmy continued his run in 2018, finishing second in the league in clean sheets with 13 as the club finished at the top of the Western Conference.
Tim Melia wore this blue goalkeeper shirt during the October 17th, 2018 matchup against the Vancouver Whitecaps. SKC won the match, 4-1, with a late barrage of goals.
These blue shirts are one of my favorites that the club has had for it’s goalkeepers in recent years. The shirt is relatively free of wear and is signed by Melia on the back.
