Gianluca Busio wore this shirt in his final full season in Major League Soccer with Sporting Kansas City.
The eighteen year old standout played in 19 games for Peter Vermes’ side, starting 15 of those and tallying 1 goal and 3 assists. In all of his time with SKC, Busio never really lit up the scoresheet but his rapid progression from the second youngest signing in MLS history at age 15 to regular contributor by age 17 was astounding.
All of that promise being executed saw Busio sign for Venezia FC in Serie A for a club record transfer fee, reportedly $6.5 million dollars plus another $4 million dollars in easily achievable bonuses and further bonuses possible.
In 2020, his versatility was a boon for SKC and that flexibility has helped him find a home on the transfer market and on the United States men’s national team.
Busio’s shirt does have a few signs of wear with the right chest near the adidas logo has several pulls.
One thing of note on the shirt is that the Compass Minerals sponsorship patches are on both sleeves. Earlier in the season, SKC wore one Compass Minerals patch and the MLS patch but eventually changed to two sponsor patches.
The shirt is signed on the back by Bus and is sourced from Fanatics MLS match worn shirt program, so it has a Fanatics LOA.
Busio has had a solid start to life in Serie A with Venezia.
Still aged just 19, he’s made 20 appearances in Serie A and has a goal and 2 assists for the newly promoted Italian side.
He’s also seen significant time with the USMNT, winning the Gold Cup in the summer and seeing his first start in a World Cup qualifier against Jamaica in November.
