Roger Espinoza was in vintage form in 2017.
He started 30 matches, scoring a goal and adding 3 assists. Espinoza also had 9 yellows and 1 red card, continuing his run as "red card Roger" where he currently holds the MLS all-time record with 12 red cards in his career.
Espinoza has been a huge part of Sporting Kansas City for more than a decade. He's one of the thrill pillars of the SKC era, alongside Graham Zusi and Matt Besler. The trio have combined to bring the club it's most successful run on and off the pitch.
Roger has always been one of my favorites at the club, so I'm stoked to add his #27 shirt alongside my other Espinoza #15 and #17 match worn shirts to complete the trifecta of numbers he's worn.
This secondary match worn shirt was worn on September 10th, 2017 in a 1-1 draw against the Columbus Crew.
It features two unique patches on the right breast. The NEAL patch honors former SKC owner Neal Patterson who passed away earlier in 2017. The MLS Works cancer awareness ribbon, which was phased out not long after this for the Kick Childhood Cancer ribbon, is just above that.
The shirt does have some signs of wear with a few pulls/bobbles. There is a smudge or stain near the front hem, as well as another set of stains/marks on the left hem near the hip. The back lettering has a few signs of wear or wash wear as well.
