Lo'eau LaBonta put in an NWSL Best XI shift for the Kansas City Current during the 2022 season. Labonta scored 8 goals and had 4 assists in 23 matches for KC.
Lo's career year fueled an incredible resurgence for the Current who battled all of the way to the NWSL Championship after winning just 3 matches in 2021. Their turnaround was a story for the ages, and the club looks primed to be a force again in 2023.
Lo'eau LaBonta wore this special white shirt during the NWSL Challenge Cup that ran from March through May. The Current went 4-1-1 in the tournament and progressed to the semifinal before losing 2-1 to the North Carolina Courage.
These shirts were only worn for the Challenge Cup and then replaced as a secondary kit by another white shirt with a splash of teal.
LaBonta's shirt has some signs of use and features her signature on the back numbers.
Inside the shirt and behind the crest you can find the name "KOA" which refers to Lo'eau LaBonta's brother Kalaukoa who passed away in 2018.
LaBonta has her brother's name placed on the back of the crest (and therefore over her heart) of all of her kits as a tribute.
