Jaylin Lindsey is slowly but surely supplanting club legend Graham Zusi at right back for Sporting Kansas City.
Part of that is due to repeated injuries to the older Zusi, but a healthy portion of the reason is due to Lindsey’s increasing ability to provide quality performances in place of his predecessor and mentor. The only thing holding him back is his own injuries.
Lindsey scored his first two goals in MLS last season. One of those was on June 19th, 2021 in this very shirt against the Portland Timbers. Unfortunately, it was the only goal SKC scored en route to a 2-1 loss.
Lindsey’s match worn shirt has a few tiny picks/pulls and a bit of puckering in the armpits. An unidentified stain faintly covers the back of the right sleeve.
The back numbers are a special number set worn just for this game that are inspired by the celebration of Juneteenth.
The most identifiable wear isn’t visible at all. It can be smelled.
The shirt arrived unwashed and it is pungent. It honestly smells like it was wetted to be washed and then they decided to pull it out of the water and just let it dry in a box.
It’s really saying something when Lindsey’s shirt smells worse than any game worn hockey sweater I’ve ever owned, and there have been some ripe ones.
These shirts were auctioned by Major League Soccer via Fanatics over the past few weeks.
Every single player’s jersey who dressed that weekend is being auctioned over a month long period with the proceeds going to specific charities for each team.
