Chris Klein was a fourth overall selection in the 1998 MLS College Draft. He went on to be a star in KC.
Much like his successors Matt Besler and Graham Zusi, Klein helped lead the team to multiple trophies in his eight year tenure with the Wiz.
He’s a Sporting Legend and was an integral part in the club’s first MLS Cup championship. Klein also ranks 7th all-time at the club in goals scored. He was as high as 5th just a year and a half ago before being overtaken by Dániel Sallói and Johnny Russell.
This primary match worn shirt was worn by Klein late in the 2001 season.
Shortly after the tragic events of 9/11, MLS had clubs wear a special commemorative 9/11 patch for the last few weeks of the 2001 season. Teams also wore the patch throughout the 2002 season.
Chris Klein’s shirt has a solid amount of wear with evidence of small stains on the front, the back shoulder, and the sides of the jersey.
The shirt appears to have been washed at some point down the line which has caused the deterioration of the numbers on the front and back of the shirt. Despite that, the autograph remains fresh.
